Research as “Storytelling” is a metaphor that I like to use when teaching my graduate statistics courses at SLU for the Psychology Department. It is important to connect our overarching research question(s) of interest to a specific methodology; our methodology enables the use of an appropriate statistical analysis. I will introduce two lines of statistical analyses often used in the psychological sciences that are most appropriate to assess research questions concerning prediction and research questions concerning the assessment of group differences.
